ICE error code — Balboa spa
Always cut power at the breaker before opening the spa pack or touching wiring. Spa equipment runs at 120/240V and can be lethal. If you are unsure, hire a licensed spa technician.
ICE in cold weather is your spa protecting itself: pumps cycle to keep water moving. ICE in mild weather means a sensor is reading low. Don't disable freeze protection to silence the code.
What ICE means
Freeze condition detected — pumps may run automatically.
Diagnose in order
- Confirm ambient temperature genuinely near freezing — if so, this is protection, not a fault
- If it's warm and ICE shows anyway, test the temperature sensor
