FL1 error code — Hot Spring / Watkins spa
Always cut power at the breaker before opening the spa pack or touching wiring. Spa equipment runs at 120/240V and can be lethal. If you are unsure, hire a licensed spa technician.
FL1 is the inverted flow fault: the switch says water is flowing when the pump is off. That's a stuck or failed switch, not a pump problem — which is why FL1 and FL2 have different fixes despite similar names.
What FL1 means
Flow switch malfunction — closed when it should be open.
Diagnose in order
- Power-cycle; a stuck reading sometimes releases
- Inspect the flow switch paddle for debris jamming it closed
- Test and replace the flow switch — the standard FL1 fix
