Grundfos Circ Pump & Spa Circulation Pump Replacements
A spa circulation pump runs continuously at low speed to filter water, feed the heater, and keep chemicals distributed β it is the heartbeat of your hot tub. Whether you need a Grundfos circ pump for a Dimension One spa or a Waterway wet-rotor pump for a custom build, this collection covers 115V and 230V options from the brands technicians actually specify. Homeowners and service pros use this page to find a verified drop-in before a weekend is wasted waiting on a dealer order.
How to choose the right spa circulation pump
Circ pumps are not universal. Get these four things right before you add to cart:
- Voltage β match exactly. North American spas run on either 115V or 230V/240V. A 115V pump on a 230V circuit will burn out immediately; the reverse will simply not start. Check your existing pump's label or your spa's equipment bay wiring. See our 115V Circulation Pump Kit 10-0139-KIT for 115V systems and the 230V Circulation Pump 10-0138-KIT for 230V systems.
- Frame / body series. Gecko's 43 Series pumps (such as the 230V 43 Series PU602394 and 115V 43 Series 31842) only swap with other 43 Series bodies. Waterway WE10 and WE14 frames have their own footprint and plumbing connections β see the WE10-240V, WE10-120V, and WE14 1/4 HP 230V listings for port measurements.
- HP and flow rate. Most circ pumps fall between 1/15 HP and 1/4 HP. A higher-HP replacement in a low-flow heater loop can cause cavitation or pressure faults. Match the horsepower shown on the dead pump's label.
- OEM part number or spa brand. Dimension One spas use specific pump assemblies such as the E3 Circulation Pump 01512-330YU. Platinum Spas require the PMP-WCA50-USA. If your spa control board lists an error code tied to the circ pump circuit, cross-reference that part number first.
- Regional voltage (Europe). The 230V Maelstrom 0810-690000 is rated for European electrical standards; it is not a domestic US replacement.
Brands we carry
- Grundfos β Industry-standard wet-rotor technology; the Grundfos circ pump is specified by many North American spa OEMs for its long service life and quiet operation.
- Waterway β Broad range of WE-series pumps covering both 120V and 240V; widely available and straightforward to plumb.
- Gecko Alliance β OEM supplier for many mid-range spa brands; the 43 Series is a common factory-install across multiple manufacturers.
- Dimension One Spas β Proprietary pump assemblies engineered specifically for D1 equipment bays; not interchangeable with generic units.
- LX β Cost-effective pumps with solid performance records in entry-level and mid-range spa systems.
- Platinum Spas β Brand-matched replacement for Platinum Spas models, ensuring correct port sizing and wiring harness fit.
Common problems this part solves
Most circ pump failures show up in one of three ways: the water stops filtering and turns cloudy, the heater throws a flow or temperature error because it is starved of circulation, or the pump hums but produces no flow (seized impeller or failed capacitor). If your spa display shows a persistent FLO, FL1, or LF fault, the circ pump circuit is the first place to investigate. A pump that runs hot, leaks from the shaft seal, or trips the GFCI is also at end of life.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my spa circulation pump is bad and not just an airlock?
Purge air first by briefly loosening a union fitting until water dribbles out, then re-tighten. If the flow fault persists and you can confirm 115V or 230V is reaching the pump terminals (use a multimeter), the pump motor or impeller has failed rather than an airlock being the culprit.
Can I upgrade from a 1/15 HP to a 1/4 HP circ pump for better filtration?
Only if your plumbing, heater inlet, and control board support the higher flow rate. An oversized pump can push water past the heater pressure switch too quickly, triggering false high-limit faults. Match the HP rating on the original pump unless your spa manufacturer explicitly approves an upgrade.
Is a Grundfos circ pump interchangeable with a Waterway WE10?
Not directly β port size, flange footprint, and wiring connections differ. Both are wet-rotor designs, but you should replace with the same series or an OEM-approved substitute listed for your spa model.
My spa is 115V. Will a 230V pump work if I rewire?
No. The control board outputs a fixed voltage to the circ pump circuit. Rewiring for a different voltage pump requires board-level changes that are outside normal field repair and can void any remaining warranty.
How long should a spa circulation pump last?
Under normal use β correct water chemistry, clean filter, and proper voltage β most circ pumps last five to ten years. Running the spa with a dirty filter or low water level forces the pump to cavitate and dramatically shortens its life.
Do I need to drain the spa to replace the circulation pump?
Usually not completely. Closing the isolation unions (if installed) lets you swap the pump with minimal water loss. If your spa has no unions, you will need to lower the water level below the pump inlet before disconnecting plumbing.
